Alberta invites over 1,300 candidates in September provincial immigration draws

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) held a total of seven draws over the course of September.

Invitations were extended to candidates with Alberta job offers who are well-positioned to help alleviate workforce shortages in high-demand sectors and occupations.

Summary of draws

Between Sept. 2 and Sept. 10, the AAIP issued 1,376 Invitations to Apply (ITAs), focusing primarily on its Alberta Express Entry stream and Dedicated Health Care Pathway.

With September only at its midpoint, the AAIP has already issued more invitations than any other month in 2025.

Of the seven draws held this month, the biggest draw was on Sept. 4, in which 891 candidates were invited through the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

Refer to the table below for a breakdown of invitations issued across each pathway during the nine-day period, including the cut-off score for each.

The Alberta Opportunity Stream is the AAIP’s most popular immigration pathway—featuring both the largest nomination allocation of any of the province’s streams, and the most Expressions of Interest (EOIs) in the AAIP’s selection pool (at nearly 42,000).

The AAIP announced earlier this year that in 2025, the Alberta Express Entry Stream would issue invitations based on priority sectors, alongside the stream’s three designated pathways:

  • The Dedicated Health Care Pathway.
  • The Accelerated Tech Pathway.
  • The Law Enforcement Pathway.

Construction, agriculture, aviation, and healthcare make up the sectors being prioritized under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

Provincial nomination figures

As of Sept. 11, the province has offered the following numbers for the above streams:

The AAIP does not provide detail into allocations of nominations by individual priority sector under the Alberta Express Entry Stream – Priority occupations. Similarly the province does not distinguish the nominations allocation under the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway, grouping nominations for both Express Entry and non-Express Entry options together. Further details on nominations are also not provided for these streams.

The province’s total nomination allocation for the AAIP in 2025 is 4,875, and it has used up 3,749 spaces from its allocation as of Sept. 11.

As of the time of this writing, the AAIP still has 1,126 nomination spaces remaining for the rest of the year.

Alberta notes that it still has 1,768 applications awaiting processing in its inventory.

The AAIP also provides up-to-date nomination allocation figures for its other streams, here.
